Discover tranquility at the Hayward Japanese Gardens. This green sanctuary was the Bay Area’s first to be designed according to strict traditional guidelines and includes a koi pond, waterfall, and Japanese treehouse. If you want a beach day, make your way to Don Castro Regional Recreation Area. It’s loved for its lagoon and warmer waters. Animal-lovers have to visit the Sulphur Creek Nature Center. It’s a wildlife rehabilitation center and home to over 900 animals. The Hayward downtown area was once full of graffiti, but thanks to the Mural Arts Program of Hayward, you can now discover murals galore.
